The lively town of Nazaré has a beautiful beach. This picture is taken from Sitio, where you have the most stunning sunsets and perfect view over Nazaré down town beach and Praia do Norte, known for its big waves.

When you are in Sitio, visit the little surf museum inside the fort of São Miguel. It is the perfect place to get a little background info on how these giant waves are formed and to see the great foto’s that they have there. After, have a caipirinha at one of the little stalls and just watch as the sun slowly disappears into the sea, you will not regret it:-)

Back to Nazaré beach,  which is a great beach to spend the day. It is a very lively beach with a great mix of tourisme but also a long time favorite among the Portuguese. It is fun, a lot of little shops and restaurants and not to forget…great seafood!
