Wine tasting

The unique micro climates of the Silver Coast mean there are several wine regions within this area, which is good news if you fancy touring a winery and doing a spot of wine tasting. We are after all, located in the middle of the Eastcoast wine route!

Special experiences include wine tasting in a windmill and an original brandy distillery in the 18th century family-run Quinta do Sanguinhal. You get to visit the vineyards, the winery and learn all about how they make wine and brandy. With a lovely wine tasting of course

The “Rota da Vinha e do Vinho do Oeste” can be divided into three routes: the Circuito das Linhas de Torres, the Circuito de Óbidos and the Circuito das Quintas de Alenquer. In each of them you will also find a cultural and gastronomic heritage that deserves to be discovered.

There are several farms and wineries with open doors to share the secrets and flavors of their wines with visitors: Quinta de S. Sebastião, Adega Cooperativa de São Mamede da Ventosa, Adega Mãe, Quinta da Almiara, Quinta Cerrado of the Door. Take the opportunity to also visit the castles and fortresses of the Lines of Torres, which played a decisive role in defending the national territory against the attacks of Napoleon’s armies.

The Óbidos route covers Companhia Agrícola Sanguinhal (owner of Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras and Quinta de S. Francisco), Casa Agrícola Nicolau, Quinta do Gradil, Vale Zias, Vinhos Cortém, Quinta dos Capuchos
