Caves Mira de Aire are considered one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal.
Located in the municipality of Porto de Mós, these are the largest caves in the country, measuring more than 11,500 meters. Discovered almost by chance, when four inhabitants of the village of Porto de Mós went down to the interior, in 1947, to look for water. The news quickly spread and, shortly afterwards, the first cavers arrived from Lisbon.
If you have kids, it may be fun to combine Caves Mira de Aire with a visit to the waterpark with slides, located right next to the caves.
